Wigan woman was more than three times over drink-drive limit

A woman who was caught driving when more than three times over the legal alcohol limit has received a year-long ban from the road.

Joanne Baker, 33, of First Avenue, Springfield, appeared before Wigan justices to admit having 117 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath when the limit is just 35.

She also pleaded guilty to being at the wheel of a Suzuki Celerio in Gidlow Lane at the time on March 5 when uninsured.

Baker was told she could reduce the disqualification period to 24 weeks if she went on a state-sanctioned course for drink-drivers.

She must also complete 60 hours of unpaid work and contribute £180 towards court costs and victim services.
