Wiganer stabbed in Warrington: Man charged

Detectives investigating the serious assault of a Wiganer in Warrington have charged a man in connection with the incident.

Jordan Hughes was arrested on Saturday following a serious assault near to McDonald's on Folly Lane.

The 21-year-old has since been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and section 18 assault – grievous bodily harm with intent.

Hughes, of Calgarth Avenue, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court later today, Monday.

The victim in the case, a 24-year-old man from Wigan, sustained significant injuries and is currently recovering in hospital; his condition is described as stable.
