A Wigan man has been bound over to keep the peace for 12 months to the sum of £100.

Paul Stirrup, 60, of Wigan Lane, Swinley, must not use disorderly behaviour towards council officials to prevent further disturbances.

He admitted breaching the peace on December 12 when he appeared before Wigan magistrates.

A Wigan man accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on his father will appear before a judge.

John Patrick Geraghty, 47, of Canberra Road, Marsh Green, is alleged to have assaulted his father, also called John Geraghty, on December 4.

He is also charged with destroying a window worth £200 belonging to Mr Geraghty.

Wigan magistrates decided to commit the case to Bolton Crown Court, where Geraghty will appear on Thursday.

He was remanded in custody until that hearing.

A man has been charged with stealing two coats from M&S, on Standishgate, Wigan.

Leslie Rigby, 51, of Greenfield Avenue, Ince, is alleged to have taken the coats on November 8.

He must appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on January 10.

Rigby was remanded on conditional bail and must not enter M&S.
