Cyclist seriously hurt in Wigan bike crash

A cyclist was airlifted to hospital after being seriously injured when he crashed his bike.

It is believed the man in his 40s was riding down a steep gradient on High Moor Lane, close to High Moor restaurant, in Wrightington, when he left the road and was thrown from the bike.

He suffered serious injuries to his head and face in the crash, which happened at 2.55pm on Sunday.

The man was taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information they may have.
