Cyclist suffers serious head injuries after coming off his bike in Wigan

Police and paramedics were called to the incident in Lamberhead Road, Pemberton, at around 11.45am on Monday (June 29).

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with serious head injuries.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 11.45am to a report that a man had fallen from a bicycle on Lamberhead Road, Wigan.

"The man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury."

An ambuance service spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a bike.

"Two rapid response vehicles, an advanced paramedic, ambulance and air ambulance all attended the scene.

"A man in his 30s was treated for serious head injuries.

"He was taken to Salford Royal hospital."
