Driver escaped unhurt when car caught on fire

A car had to be written-off after it caught on fire.

The blaze began while the Peugeot 307 was on the East Lancashire Road, between Atherleigh Way and Newton Road, Lowton, at 2.20pm today.

The driver pulled over to the side of the road and got out of the car unhurt, but the vehicle was badly damaged.
