Drug dealing brothers jailed

Meisam Abvabi, 24, of Cross Street, Hindley pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon and conspiracy to supply cocaine between Thursday, November 11 2012 and Friday, August 8 2014.

And Mohammed Abvabi, 23, also of Cross Street, admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine between the same dates and conspiracy to launder money.

Meisam was arrested in June 2014 after being found in possession of cocaine, £1,800 cash and a knuckle duster. He was later bailed pending further inquiries.

Mohammed was arrested in August the same year after being found in possession of cocaine and £800 cash.

A search of the brothers’ home led to the recovery of 1.3kg of cocaine, some packaging materials, cash and documents linking them to the supply of cocaine.

At Liverpool Crown Court, Mohammed Abvabi was sentenced to 10 years in prison and Meisam Abvabi was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

PC John Litton of GMP’s Wigan borough, said: “These two men worked together for a long period of time for their own gain but at the detriment to the communities of Greater Manchester.

“This sentencing result should send out a message that we work hard to keep drugs off our streets and we will continue to do so.”
