Inquiry as mum-of-two is found dead

An inquest has opened into the death of a Wigan mum-of-two.

The body of Marianne Clare Minter, 41, also known as Marianne Watts, was found at an address on Ascroft Avenue in Beech Hill, Wigan, on May 5.

Neighbours say they believe that the grim discovery was made by one of her children on coming home from school.

Police confirmed they were called to the address at around 4.05pm following reports that a woman’s body had been found.

They discovered the body of a 41-year-old woman but said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Tributes have been paid to Marianne, who had a teenage son and daughter, on social media.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 4.05pm on May 5, police were called to an address on Ascroft Avenue in the Beech Hill area of Wigan to reports that the body of a woman had been found.

“Officers attended and found the body of a 41-year-old woman.

“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file has been prepared for the coroner.”

The inquest was opened at Bolton Coroner’s Court on Thursday and adjourned for the preparation of reports pending a full hearing, the provisional date for which is August 18.
