Surrounding roads near to the industrial estate were also closed.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We don’t yet know the cause of the fire as we can’t access the building. The fire is out and firefighters left the scene at 12.20am on Tuesday. The unit contained two articulated wagons and four trailers that have all been severely damaged by the fire. All the roads around the building have been reopened and the area is safe.”
