Take a look at the latest Wigan hygiene ratings as a number of eateries were inspected in September

Officials from the Food Standards Agency often conduct impromptu visits to a number of food-serving premises across the borough – the most recent assessments coming from September.

Out of 49 inspections that month, 40 received five stars signifying a “very good” rating.

Four venues earned four, two earned three stars, one earned two stars and two landed a one-star rating.

The ratings are not a guide to food quality but based on a variety of different components, such as how food is handled in preparation, cooking, reheating and storage.

Inspectors also look at the cleanliness, layout and structure of the building when it comes to lighting, ventilation and how it is managed.
