Man taken to hospital after collapsing in Mesnes Park in Wigan

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken ill around 6.30pm yesterday in Mesnes Park, and an ambulance took him to Wigan Infirmary.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesman said the seriousness or cause of his collapse was unknown.

They said: "We were called at 6.26pm to reports that someone had collapsed in Mesnes Park, Wigan.

"We sent one ambulance and two rapid response vehicles to the scene.

"A male in his 40s was treated by ambulance crews and taken to Wigan Infirmary."
