Man's body found in canal in Leigh

Police were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a man in water off Warwick Street, Leigh, at around 9.25am today (Thursday, May 21).

Officers attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

Police cordoned off a footpath leading to the canal off Hall House Lane, Leigh, behind Bedford High School, following the discovery.
