Miss Preston wins Miss England crown
The 20-year-old student from Ribbleton beat 49 other beauties in the final last night and now has the Miss World title in her sights.
Elizabeth, who only became Miss Preston in April after being talent-spotted in the street, will head off to the big one in Washington DC in December.

“I’m surprised I can even make sense right now. I’m so blessed and so grateful to even be here.”
Asked by the pageant’s co-host Jordan Williams if she had a message for her family, she said: “Yes, I’ll meet you in the bar!”
Elizabeth’s life has been something of a whirlwind since clinching the Miss Preston title only three months ago. She only entered the contest, which feeds into the Miss England competition, after being approached in the street while out shopping.

She dedicated her first title to Derian House Children’s Hospice where her sister Melanie was cared for before dying of a brain tumour in 2001 at the age of 12.
Now she says she will continue to raise money for the hospice as Miss England.
