Little Arthur Flores was born in January into a family of Latics fans, including his uncle and former Latics player Jordan Flores.

He loves wearing his club kit, but has not yet been able to go to a match with his father Adam and grandfathers due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Adam said: “He can’t wait for his first match. Obviously he won’t be able to go until fans are allowed back in. It is disappointing but it’s for the right reasons. We have to be patient.”

Instead, he has been staying at home with mum Nicola Howe, who has been painting his feet in rainbow colours for their relatives.

But Arthur can feel a bit closer to the team after being gifted a signed football by Wigan Athletic Community Trust.

Couns Chris Ready and Ron Conway visited the family’s home in Whelley to hand over the ball after learning about Arthur in a competition to discover what people have been doing during lockdown.

Adam said: “It’s brilliant, I’m very appreciative.”
