Officers were responding to an incident in Wigan yesterday, June 24, amid sweltering temperatures. When they returned to their van, they discovered items had been left on the windscreen.

The two youngsters, known only as Guy and Mason, had left soft drinks and snacks to help the officers stay refreshed during the unbearable temperatures.

The treats were accompanied with a message "stay safe".
