Running mum Nichola Diment and her friends at Team ACF running club took fellow runner Martin Halliwell for the unusual ride from The Boar’s Head along Wigan Road to Standish centre - which is all uphill.

Dressed in festive costumes, they also stopped off at Windsor House Care Home on the way and serenaded the residents,

In total, they raised £100 from passers-by as well as smiles from care home residents.

Team ACF’s Lee Clark said: “It was an absolute ball and a massive success. Over £100 raised on the day! Huge thanks to the kind and generous people of Standish for the donations.

“A lovely moment was Martin serenading the residents of Windsor House care home with Christmas carols, one or two people hiding their tears. It was amazing.

He added: “Well done to Nichola for pushing Martin all the way from Boar’s Head pub to the crossroads at Standish. Massive well done to Team ACF for all working together and making the event happen.”

And Nichola said pushing 96kg Martin was her biggest challenge yet.

She said: “He is double my body weight.

“This will be for the five charities that ACF are splitting their collection up for in their Running Home For Christmas Challenge.”

Nichola has also been busy raising money for Dementia UK - an impressive £1,400 - with fancy dress school runs,

The mother-of-three has been doing this with an illuminated double buggy and recently completed achallenge to run 150km around Standish in 28 days with the pram.

The pram has a special buggy and Christmas lights strapped onto it and Nichola runs with her two youngest children, Axton, two, and five-month-old Wren, while her other daughter Minnie, eight, cycles alongside her.

She has raised the money as her grandma Ann Carlyon has dementia and her husband Tom, lost his grandmother to the condition.

Nichola said: “This has been fantastic. Every single day. Standish is brilliant.

“I’m still going on strong, it’s been more hilarious as the days go by.”
