Driver taken to hospital after van hits wall

Emergency services were called to the scene on Wigan Road at around 10.30pm on Friday.

Fire crews extricated the driver from the van and he was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The vehicle ended up off the road beside a building following the collision with the wall, which meant the road could remain open while the firefighters carried out the rescue operation.

They were at the scene for around half an hour.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were also in attendance.
