A Wigan horse-racing fan takes a trip down Memory Lane with this picture of the late, great Lester Piggott on the day of his professional debut.

Caroline Heaven admits the jockey, who died this week aged 86, was “like Marmite,” but she has always been a huge admirer and bought this image of Piggott aged 12 at his father Ernest’s stables on the day of his first race at Haydock Park.
