A 10-hour ukulele marathon was held at Coffee Etc in Parbold to raise money for the victims of the war in Ukraine.Organised by Gary Smith, 71, who runs the community-based coffee shop where all profits go back into the community, he believed it was a good fit to host the event there. With help from Maggie Dainty, Jayne Marsh and Polly Pilkington MBE they managed to get ukulele bands from across the North West including Wigan and Ormskirk to raise funds for Unicef, which is working around the clock to help the citizens of Ukraine.Money they receive goes towards providing exercise books for classes of up to 50 students, helping to continue their education during this difficult time.Setting up a justgiving page and accepting cash donations in buckets at the venue they hoped to raise £2,000 but the total is looking closer to £3,000 for a total.

There is still time to donate on their just giving page here
