Police said at the time that they did not believe there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Coroner Catherine Cundy has now opened an inquest into his death at Bolton Coroner’s Court and it was adjourned until July 21.

Tributes have been paid on Facebook to the former Bedford High School pupil.

A statement from the school said: “It is with great sadness that we write this post. Our former student Rodney Zinoro has tragically passed away. This is devastating news and our thoughts are with Rodney’s family and friends.

“It is an unimaginable loss and our hearts go out to them in their time of sorrow. Rodney was a pleasure to know and he will always be remembered with great fondness. May he rest in peace.”
