23 fabulous photographs of smiling children enjoying the family mile at the Wigan 10k

Energetic children sprinted to the finish line - sometimes with parents struggling to keep up - during the ever popular family mile.

It returned to Mesnes Park alongside the Wigan 10k and offered youngsters the chance to earn their own medal.

There were plenty of smiling but tired faces as delighted children took part in the popular event, cheered on by spectators.
