Police investigating tragic Wigan baby death

The emergency services were called to an address in Ashton on Boxing Day.

Police were called following a report of concern for a baby's welfare at around 12.15pm on Saturday.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the baby died at home.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) inquiries to understand exactly what happened are under way but still in the early stages.

The family is being supported by specially-trained officers.

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) also attended the scene.
