The event attracted over 32,000 fans to the country park and before the show started some fans knocked down a perimeter fence. The Verve played their historic set and singer Richard Ashcroft reminded the audience that the band had come a long way since their early days playing to a few punters at The Honeysuckle pub in Poolstock. They were in good form and launched into their set including “Sonnet”, “The Drugs Don’t Work”, “Lucky Man” and “Bitter Sweet Symphony”. The fans loved it and Richard Ashcroft described it as one of the greatest days of his life (words by photographer Frank Orrell). Photo: Frank Orrell
