Thanks for emergency services and strangers who helped man after fall in Wigan woodland

The family of a man who fell in woodland has thanked the emergency services and kind strangers who came to his aid.

Bolton Mountain Rescue Team was called just after 9.30am on Friday by North West Ambulance Service to help with a casualty with an upper leg injury in Shevington.

A spokesman said: "The team responded with two team vehicles and 14 team members. The casualty was in a very muddy and difficult spot to access in a woodland area. Team members provided assistance to the paramedics before extracting the casualty 800m by stretcher to the road ambulance at a nearby farm.

"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and would like to thank the farm owners for their assistance and cups of tea."

The next day, the mountain rescue team received a message from the family of the injured man, thanking everyone involved for their help.

It said: "Thank you to Bolton Mountain Rescue..... and the paramedics who attended, a member of our family, who had taken a fall......to the farmer who used his quad bike to help access, for the survival blanket, hot water bottle & a warm drink, to the passer by who supported our family member for so long, in the cold and mud, waiting for help to arrive, also to the lady who took care of our dog and returned him washed & safe.

"Thank you..... you restore our faith in human kind...... please share , I don’t know all these people, but will try to thank them individually. X"
