The news broke last week that work is imminently about to restart on the New Market Hall, I for one, feel this is a positive move and should give some optimism to the market traders who have been left isolated for a prolonged period of time.

Making the town centre smaller can only help with, what is, the difficult situation many High Street chains are feeling.

Along with plenty of road resurfacing around town and work on the Civic Centre getting noisy, which is good, it looks like Wigan has turned a corner.

I had a link sent to me from a reader of this very column, who does not live in Wigan, but hey.

These are not in anyway nuclear, but a quick way of topping up the power in your car, and refillable, no need for the non-environmental infrastructure of coppering up the planet with EV points, quicker than charging too.

They are looking for a new leader after Rishi Rich said he would step down, but even doing this they have tactically shot themselves in the foot with the choice of Kemi ‘I hate pregnant women’ Badenoch and Robert ‘who’ Jenrick remaining.
