Paul Christie, Chairman of Burnden Road Runners in Bolton, said: "It is with great sadness and sorrow that today we heard the news of Mark Lysycia's passing away.

"Any runner who has ran a local race in our area, has had their photograph taken by Mark. Fact.

And he took some fantastic photos! Not just the running ones, which were great, but Mark also had an eye and a talent for capturing the essence of the pre-race and post-race atmosphere. I've always maintained that the informal group shots that Mark took were amongst his very best work.

"Races will not be the same with Mark's "give us a smile" as you are trying to finish the race, maybe not with the greatest style in the world, but with a element of pride in your effort. That is what often shone through in Mark's photo's - that moment of joy/elation/relief that you had when you finished the race. Mark absolutely loved to show you the shot has had just taken of you. A craftsman's love of his art. A real loss to our local running scene.

"R.I.P. Mark"
