Wigan and Leigh Hospice is honoured with a prestigious Believe Square star

Wigan and Leigh Hospice has been honoured with a prestigious Believe Square star.

For more than 40 years, the Hindley-based charity has provided specialist palliative and end of life care to thousands of patients and families across our communities, offering compassion, dignity and unwavering support at the moments when it matters most.

The Believe Star is one of the highest honours awarded by Wigan Council - recognising exceptional contributions and outstanding achievements.

The stars are on display at Believe Square in Wigan town centre and at Civic Square in Leigh.

Leader of Wigan Council, Coun David Molyneux, said: “This Believe Star is a testament to the unwavering dedication and kindness that Wigan & Leigh Hospice has shown to our residents for generations.

“The Hospice is a shining example of the very best of Wigan borough. Their work touches countless lives, and this honour recognises not only their clinical excellence, but their humanity, compassion and incredible community spirit.

“Wigan & Leigh Hospice has always been there for our borough, and we are proud to celebrate them and their remarkable contribution.”

Jo Carby, Chief Executive of Wigan and Leigh Hospice, said: "This Believe Star is an incredible honour and a moment of real pride for everyone connected to Wigan and Leigh Hospice. For more than 40 years, our teams, volunteers and supporters have worked tirelessly to ensure people across our borough receive compassionate, specialist care when they need it most.

"This recognition belongs to our whole community - the staff who deliver exceptional care, the volunteers who give their time so generously, and the fundraisers and supporters who make our work possible. We are deeply grateful to Wigan Council for this acknowledgement and for their continued support of hospice care."
