The picture, created by Parbold artist James Bartholomew, has been chosen by Winalot to feature on their new pouches which will be on sale in stores across the country and in America.

Jamie, who has a studio in the Windmill at Parbold, said the dog food firm were looking for a new image for their dog food pouches and quite by accident saw and were vastly impressed by James’s dog portraits.

The upshot was that they sent the artist some illustrations and James worked creating an image of a golden labrador which fitted the bill.

James, who has used the quiet time during the pandemic to create many and varied works, said: “The communication from Winalot came out of the blue and I was delighted that they knew my work.

“The commission stated that the dog had to be painted and had to be a golden labrador, a breed I love although my current pooch is a springer spaniel named Jess.

“It’s amazing and very flattering to think that my painting on the Winalot pouches will be seen by millions both here and in America.

“I’m also pleased that each pouch will also mention my name and tell of my work.”

A respected artist, James’s work takes in many different types of animals, cities and marine subjects.

They sell far and wide and recently he completed a dog portrait for a fan in Puerto Rico.
