Wigan band The Lathums have signed a deal with the world-famous Island Records who boast U2, Queen and Bob Dylan among their artists.

Wigan band The Lathums have signed a deal with the world-famous Island Records who boast U2, Queen and Bob Dylan among their artists.

The band, who formed around a year and a half ago, have had a string of triumphs over the past few months selling out gig after gig and most recently filling Gorilla at Manchester where they played with Manchester indie band Dirty Laces.

The young foursome, Alex Moore, Scott Contepcion, Ryan Durrans and Jonny Cunliffe, had the summer of a lifetime which started with them being invited to play at Kendal Calling by The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess.

Since then, the Pemberton “Music Projects” students have had some fantastic opportunities,

Announcing their impresive record deal and thanking the fans for their amazing support, the band tweeted: “We never thought that doibng what we love most would take us so far in life. What started as a mess around college project has now become a full time job.”
