Inspired by footballer Marcus Rashford, Eat Drink Wigan, formerly known as Wigan Eats, raised £15,000 and worked with Fur Clemt and The Old Courts to provide lunches during the October half-term for pupils who would normally receive free school meals.

Now owners Ben Anglesea and Darryl Latham have turned their attention to making a difference for just one person. They have launched a competition offering the chance to win meals for three months, a personal training session each week, a meal and diet plan, 12-week gym membership, a watch and trainers.

They believe the prize, which is worth £1,200, could have a huge impact on the life of the winner.

Ben said: “It could be a life-changing package for someone. I’m not saying it will turn their life around, but it is a stepping stone and allows someone to get in the right routine and right habits. Sometimes someone just needs a little push and a little boost and will keep going.

“We know that if you do something regularly enough - and three months is plenty of time - then it can become a lifestyle change.

“ They could really benefit from this.”

Health food restaurant Four Seasons Kitchen in Standish will provide prepared meals for three months, which will be tailor-made to suit the winner, match their goals and meet the nutrients they require. For example, they could be looking to lose weight, gain weight or become more active.

Personal trainer Curt Edwards-Hampson will offer a session a week, while Heaven vs Hell gym has offered 12-week gym membership. Eat Drink Wigan will provide a Fitbit watch and Under Armour trainers.

There has already been huge interest, with details seen by more than 15,000 people in the first two days after launch.

The business, which has an online hub of Wigan’s restaurants, cafes, takeaways, sweet shops and other hospitality venues, hopes as many people as possible will enter.

To do so, people should “like” Eat Drink Wigan and Four Seasons Kitchen Standish’s Facebook pages, “like” the competition post on Eat Drink Wigan’s page, tag three friends and share the post.

A winner will be selected at random at 6pm on Sunday.
