Uni Play put the message thanking the health service and front-line employees for their work during the coronavirus crisis on Hilton Street in Ashton.

The design, which also includes a rainbow, was placed outside the Childcare and Community Centre. Staff there wanted to express admiration for the NHS as they are currently looking after a number of children whose parents are key workers.

Nicola Ambler from the centre said: “It’s at the front of the building so everyone can see it. We just wanted to thank our community really. Our nursery staff are working very hard putting themselves at risk to look after the children of NHS and key workers.

“The parents have all given us a lot of support when they come every day to drop their children off and pick them up. It’s worrying working at the moment but morale among the staff here is high and we are doing really well.”

The childcare facility is looking after around 10 youngsters of key workers each day. The painting was arranged with Uni Play as one of the company owners has a child attending the nursery. The firm also painted a rainbow around the corner on the road outside St Thomas’s Primary School.
