Wigan man captures stunning video footage of meteor as it hurtles over Wigan

A Wigan man has captured some dazzling footage of a meteor as it rocketed through the skies above Wigan.

Blake Kerwin, 22, caught the footage on his home CCTV camera in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Blake, from Goose Green, says he was awoken by a notification on his phone linked to the home CCTV system alerting him it had picked up motion outside his house.

When he reviewed the footage he was stunned to see the meteor.

Blake said: "We've only just had the camera installed and this is the first time it's alerted me to anything like this!"

"I was stunned when I saw it, it's quite clearly a meteor, you can see the tail on it, it's fascinating.

"I've never seen a meteor before. I find all things to do with space amazing and everyone who has seen this video has agreed it's a very rare capture."
