Several neighbours in Sittingbourne Road have reportedly only received post through their letterbox once since Saturday, December 12.

One of the residents, 89-year-old Geoffrey Walmsley, said that not only would he be expecting many Christmas cards at this time of year, but also an invitation to receive a Covid-19 vaccine.

He said: “At this time of year, you expect something more or less every day. Certainly you might miss one day in the week, but not four out of five.

“For several weeks it’s been coming on and off on odd days. Monday. Wednesday. Friday one week, then Tuesday. Thursday. Saturday the next, which isn’t so bad. But particularly at this time, we are expecting our early vaccinations for Covid.

“You get it by letter from the surgeries, so we’re frightened we might miss it. That’s just one part of it. Generally speaking, you’d expect to get a few Christmas cards at this time too.”

Mr Walmsley investigated the issue with his next door neighbours on either side, who reported that they too had not received any mail for many days.”
