Wigan singer to appear on The Voice UK in bid to repeat his TV show success

A young Wigan singer who wowed millions when he took part in a TV singing contest is having another shot at stardom.

Jake McKechnie announced on Instagram that he auditioned for The Voice UK and the episode will be broadcast on Saturday evening.

It follows his success in a junior version of the show, named The Voice Kids UK, in 2017, when he reached the final aged 12.

Since then, Jake, from Orrell, has continued performing, raising the roof at venues across the borough and helping to switch on the Christmas lights.

The Voice UK will be broadcast at 8.30pm on Saturday on ITV1.
