Wigan street celebrates People's Postcode Lottery win

The neighbours in Claremont Road, Billinge, netted the windfall when WN5 7LT was announced as a People’s Postcode Lottery winner on Thursday, July 9.

Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson said: “I’m thrilled for our winners, what great news for them! I hope they enjoy their winnings and go treat themselves to something nice.”

A minimum of 32 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of the lottery have raised more than £500 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

The draw was promoted by Girlguiding which has received more than £5.2 million in funding from the players of the lottery.

Girlguiding is active across the UK and it gives girls and young women a space where they can be themselves. This includes by building brilliant friendships, gaining valuable life skills and making a positive difference to their lives and their communities.

A number of good causes close to the winners have also benefitted from players’ support, and charities can next apply for funding in August.
