He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and money laundering and is currently on police bail whilst police continue with their enquires. One of the phones the man had in his possession was later discovered to be the phone stolen from Vodafone on December 14.

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Det Con Andy Kettle said: “We are working to establish the link between the theft of the iPhone and the man arrested at Manchester Airport.
