A stolen car found with false number plates has been seized by police.

Officers discovered the vehicle parked on Naylor Avenue in Golborne on Friday morning (April 9).

The car had been stolen from Wigan a few weeks previously and was recovered for forensic examination.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police's (GMP) Golborne and Lowton district said: "This morning we were informed that a vehicle was acting suspicious and had been parked on Naylor Avenue, Golborne. When officers attended and checked it out, it was displaying false plates and was in fact a stolen from Wigan a few weeks ago.

"The car was recovered for forensic examination and we have several other leads we will be following up and knocking on some doors."
