Police investigate fire at a flat in Wigan

Firefighters were called out to the incident on Manchester Road shortly after 6pm last night, Saturday.

A neighbour raised the alarm after seeing a large amount of smoke coming from the flat.

It took three crews from Leigh fire station to extinguish the fire, which burnt out the living room and caused smoke damage to the rest of the flat.

There was nobody in the flat during the fire , and no injuries were sustained as a result.

What caused the fire remains unknown.
