Police probe after yobs set fire to bin

Police have an issued an appeal for information after yobs set fire to a commercial bin and placed it against a wall in Leigh.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Leigh were called to the incident on the junction of Gas Street and Albion Street, in Leigh town centre, at approximately 7.20pm yesterday (Thursday).

Upon arrival, fire crews spotted approximately five youths fleeing the scene in dark clothing.

Firefighters found a large commercial bin had been placed against the wall of a commercial property, near to the Leigh Market Hall, and its contents set alight.

The building suffered minimal damage in the attack.

Greater Manchester Police, who were also called to the scene, confirmed the incident is being treated as suspicious.
