The councillors, who were contacted by a concerned resident about the mess, posted the discovery to Facebook to encourage other people not to litter.
They said: “We were out early tidying up the area of land between Castle Hill Road, Close Street and Hereford Road.
“The amount of rubbish collected in a such a small area is so disappointing.

In recent weeks, there has been a big drive in Hindley to crackdown on selfish litter louts who continue to blight the town.
It has seen residents from Borsdane and Rayner Park Friends Group and Friends of Hindley Cemetery, litter pick in areas including Borsdane Woods, Hindley Cemetery, North Rayner Park and South Rayner Park.
Wigan Council chiefs have also been taking tough action against fly-tipping.

The cameras will be deployed by the council in areas including Platt Bridge and Hindley and elsewhere in the borough.
They have the ability to tilt and pan wider areas with footage monitored by staff in the council’s central watch CCTV room.
Under the changes, fines increased for littering (including from vehicles) from £120 to £150 but this will be discounted to £75 if paid within 14 days.
