Wigan youngsters enjoy play area upgrade
The £60,000 replacement playground can be found on Grange Road park, in Bryn, and has been secured thanks to money provided by developers who have been building houses nearby.
Work to create the facility has taken place over the last few weeks and it comes after residents had called for years to replace the old and outdated former play area.

Hide AdCoun Steve Jones, who represents the area on Wigan Council, said he was “delighted” at the new play area.
He said: “For years, residents had been asking for a new play area and for the old and outdated equipment to be replaced.
“So I met up with council officers on the site to ask for this and it was agreed that the play area would go ahead and be built.
“It has been secured thanks to section 106 money and work started a few weeks ago and the play area opened on Saturday.

Coun Jones said the play area is complete with equipment including a climbing frame, swings and a slide.
And he said it is just the start, as there will be a meeting next month regarding having a new play area at Rose Hill, while it is also hoped to put a park and nets on Whitledge Green.
He said: “This is just the start, we have a meeting later this month regarding Rose Hill.

“As for our third location we are looking at putting a park and nets on Whitledge Green. Hopefully this will all be agreed in the upcoming months with Wigan Council.”
