Coun Ready said: “We’ve had lots of comments, especially through Covid, about how amenable he is.

“He chats to people while working on tidying up the area and tackling grot spots.

“He goes over and above. When he’s done for the day he will go out there litter picking, and he drops bags off at people’s homes for them and then comes to collect the bags when they’re full.

“We just thought it would be nice to recognise him.

“People are quick to complain about council staff but we should say thank you and recognise when someone does a good job.”

Kathleen Marsh from the One House Community Centre in Aspull also praised Ste’s contribution.
