Rallying to aid roof fall victim

Danny Wright is recovering from a broken back, fractured ribs and a punctured lung after falling from a roof-top.

Kind-hearted family and friends of the dad-of-one have organised a charity fun-day to support the “brilliant family man” through his recovery.

Organiser Stacey Boylan told the Evening Post: “It’s going to be a long road ahead. We don’t know how bad the after effects are going to be, how long he will be out of work or if he will be able to work again.”

Danny is a self-employed scaffolder from Hindley who sustained his terrible injuries when he fell while repairing a chimney stack. Last week he underwent a seven hour operation to have surgical pins and bolts inserted to help spinal injuries. Stacey, a family friend, said the community were keen to show their support for Danny’s wife Kelly and three-year-old son Harrison.

She added: “Danny is a well known and liked local lad, he’s a hard-worker and a brilliant family man who will do anything for anyone.

“The support (for the fun-day) from the local community and business has been overwhelming, please come along and get behind our local lad.

“We are trying to do what we can to raise funds to help in his recovery and support his family financially to ease some of the pain they are currently going through.”

The fund-raiser will be held this Sunday (August 14) from midday at the Amberswood Tavern, Ince.

A host of local acts will be performing and several activities for youngsters will be available such as a bouncy castle and face painting.

There will also be a sports auction and raffle, with dozens of prizes donated by local businesses, on offer throughout the afternoon.
