Shattered glass shuts down Wigan town centre road
A shattered panel of glass from a Wigan shopping centre has halted traffic on a busy main road this afternoon.
Glass from Debenham's at the Grand Arcade, Crompton Street, fell and smashed into the road in Riverway this afternoon. The police have put a road closure in effect at the junction of Millgate and Crompton Street. No injuries have been reported.
The Northbound carriage is expected to be closed for the next couple of hours, but the Southbound lane is unaffected.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and take alternative routes while the debris is dealt with.
