Three injured in East Lancs crash

A MAN was air lifted to hospital following a two vehicle crash on the East Lancashire Road.

The 35 year old was a passenger in a HGV which collided with a Fiat shortly before 9am on Thursday morning.

The 45 year old driver of the HGV was also taken to hospital by ambulance along with the female driver of the Fiat, who is thought to be in her 50s.

Her condition is serious but stable. The condition of the two men in the HGV is thought to be life threatening.

The crash meant that the road was closed until late afternoon following the incident which happened on the west-bound carriageway between Golbourne and Haydock Islands.
