Gritters head out across Wigan as temperature expected to fall below freezing

Freezing temperatures have been forecast for Sunday night and other parts of the country have already seen snow, so action is being taken in a bid to keep drivers safe.

A Wigan Council spokesman said: "With temperatures expected to drop to -2 degrees tonight, our gritting team will be out treating the primary route network. Please take care on the roads if you do have to take an essential journey."
