One lane was closed on the M6 southbound between junctions 28 (Leyland Interchange) and 27 (Shevington Interchange) due to a crash which occurred at around 4.50pm today (December 9).

But Highways England has now confirmed the vehicles involved in the collision have been moved to the hard shoulder and all lanes have reopened.

A spokesman for Highways England said: "Following a hold on traffic the vehicles involved in the collision on the M6 southbound J28-J27 have been moved to the hard shoulder.

"Traffic has been released in all lanes.

"There remains delays in the area so allow extra time."
