One lane closed on the M6 near Wigan

The lane is shut on the M6 southbound between junction 24 (St Helens/Ashton) and junction 23 (Haydock Island).

Highways England says it has been closed due to road surface damage on a bridge joint.

Traffic Officers are on scene and have requested maintenance crews.

The warning was issued shortly after 7am today (March 15).
