Storm Dennis prompts postponement of Wigan car park's closure for repairs
A Wigan car park won't be closing for repairs on Sunday after all.
The council had announced earlier this week that the Galleries multi-storey would be off limits to the public at the weekend because engineers were going to be sorting a leak that has been dogging the main access ramp since last year.
But after a severe weather warning was issued for the arrival of Storm Dennis, with Sunday bearing the brunt of the foul weather, the authority has taken the decision to postpone the project, so the car park will be open.
A town hall spokeswoman said that no new date had yet been set for the work.
