Traffic returns to normal on M6 near Wigan after crash delays

The collision happened shortly before noon on the southbound carriageway between junction 25 (Wigan) and junction 24 (St Helens Ashton A58).

It caused traffic at Orrell to stop with officers from Highways England attending the scene.

The incident also led to slow moving traffic on the approach to junction 25.

But Highways England have tweeted to say that traffic has returned to normal.

They said: "Just to further advise that all traffic in and around the area of J25 towards J24 on the M6 has now returned to normal."

An ambulance service spokesman said that one ambulance attended the incident where a few people had suffered minor injuries.

But they added that nobody was taken to hospital.
